Dear Pauline and Benjamin,
You both were so gracious to have let me stay in your humble home back in Porum during 1980. I enjoyed my visit immensely when I came to see you both. I remember how you and Ben would take your walks, holding each other hand in hand as you went for your strolls. Pauline, you and Ben, were so much fun to be with.
I remember how when you were fixing breakfast in the kitchen, Ben, your husband, snuck up behind you and pinched you from behind when he didn't think I was watching. You slapped at his hand to stop that. Giggles were had by all of us, for that "'youthful indescretion". The love I felt in your household, the kindness you both showed me, I will never forget.
Our conversations were to the point, but graciously relaxed in the way only an old Oklahoma married couple could be. I suspected Ben was in ill health, because of his breathing, but I tried to never let on, concerning that matter. Ben was such a gentleman with you. The love between the two of you showed you'd both had such quality upbringings. You can't buy that. The sincerity between you and Ben was wonderful to behold.
You both knew your remainng times together were measured and I felt fortunate to have encountered and shared briefly in just a few of your at moments as a couple, being the visitor to your household. Thank you again, Pauline for your hospitality, the laughs, the jokes and your being the perfect gracious hostess while I was there. You did a wonderful job raising Alene and it shows in how she so confidently carries herself to this day. You, Ben, Alene and your family will always have a very special place in my heart. Again, thank you for the kindness you showed me when I came for that visit. I'll never forget that.
Sincerely,
Adam Thomson.
