Obituary for
Patrick Lee Gore
Patrick Lee Gore was born April 30, 1932, to Ralph and Lois (Curley) Gore in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at home in Muskogee. Pat’s grandmother, Zula Curley, and his aunt and uncle, Eva and Felix Wilmoth,
provided a home for him as a child.
Pat attended Muskogee schools, graduating from Central High School in 1949. He graduated from Muskogee Junior College and Oklahoma University with a major in Geology. Later he received a Master’s Degree in Education from Memphis State College and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Tulsa University.
He has had careers in Geology, as a research engineer; a math and science teacher, primarily at Bacone College; computer programmer, and computer store owner. An outstanding guitarist, he has played music professionally since he was 14 years old. He has held memberships in Mensa and been inducted into three Western Swing Music Halls of Fame, located in Oklahoma, Washington, and California.
Pat is survived by his wife, Betty, of 33 years; his son, Michael and wife, Benita, of Alma, AR; daughter, Michelle of New Orleans; Kendall Boling and wife, Gee, of the home, Andrea Pitman and husband, Ronnie, of Muskogee, Jory Boling and wife, Noriko, of Kisarazu, Japan; grandchildren, Robert Gore and Michelle Gore of Amarillo, Carly and Cassidy Boling of Fort Gibson, Gabrielle and Mark Holinsworth of Muskogee, Allison Pitman of Muskogee, Kai, Maya, and Jinna Iwabe-Boling of Kisarazu, Japan, Brooke Reeder and children of Fort Smith, and Chris Brown of Muskogee. He also leaves beloved sisters-in-law and their families, Lillian Hoover of Pryor, Dolores Gardner of Heavener; and brother-in-law, Bill Blevins and wife, Pearl, of Heavener; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Pat had long and sustained friendships. Of special note are Gene Carter, Darrell Downing, and Hack Starbuck, all long-time music partners; Bobby Lee Carden, former student and music friend; John Williams, with who he shared a faculty office; Howard Williams, a brother-in-law, as well as a dear friend; and Gene Speck, student, friend, and business partner.
