Obituary for
Jimmie Lee Davis
Jimmie Lee Davis, 71, of Webbers Falls left this earthly life on Tuesday April 3, 2018 after a short illness. While many people would have labeled Jimmie as “special needs”, those that knew him would just call him “special”. He loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed the simple things in life and never took them for granted. He loved eating out (especially Long John Silvers, Chick-fil-a and Sonic), listening to country music, going for drives in the country, going shopping and watching Walker Texas Ranger. He also loved being around his niece and nephews when they were little, watching them grow to adulthood and then being around their children. He has a special affinity for children and could often quiet a crying baby when no one else could. Small children and animals could sense he was different and would immediately accept him as a lifelong friend. He also spent many years working for Peoples Inc. in Sallisaw.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lena Bonds, and his step father P.L. Chapman, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Opal Neoma Chapman Roberts of the home; siblings Charles Chapman and wife Stephanie of Bartlesville, OK, Karen Chapman of Allen, TX and Vicki Hammack and husband Brad of Muskogee, OK. He is also survived by one niece Amanda Chapman and two nephews Jeffrey Chapman and wife Ashlee and Eric Hanson, as well as great nieces Madelyn and Londyn and great nephew Evan.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday April 6, 2018 in the Round Mountain Cemetery with Rev. Glen Cox officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Webbers Falls.
The family asks for donations to be made in Jimmie’s memory to the Special Olympics.
